We offer some green tips to make 2023 better for you and Mother Earth, too.
Changing the world may seem overwhelming, but at Davines, we believe everyone can contribute by abandoning old habits and acquiring more sustainable ones. We are striving to do our best for the planet, creating effective formulas with high naturality and biodegradability percentages, and following eco-design principles. But there is much more you can do once a Davines product enters your bathroom. Join us on the path to a brighter future: here are 6 (plus one...) simple tips to reduce your hair care impact, starting from January 2023.
When taking care of hair beauty, please be conscious of the energy in use! Most of the CO2eq emissions related to haircare products come from water heating. So, prefer a cooler water temperature: warm, but not boiling hot. And also remember that shower is a moment of relaxation for you; but if it is too long, it can cause stress on the Planet.
While you massage the shampoo, the conditioner or the treatment, remember to close the tap and avoid wasting water. Turn the running water on only to rinse, then shut it off immediately.
To save running water, a good solution is using products that do not require rinsing. At Davines, we have several: from leave-on milks that guarantee long-lasting hair softness and conditioning, to treatments that help repair the hair fiber.
Use the hairdryer at the lowest possible temperature. Or even better: if you live in a region where the climate permits, let your hair air dry. If you fear your hair will not look good, if you don't style, there are some Davines products that you can use to improve styling even without using a hairdryer or other hot tools! Discover some below.
There are some situations in which, we understand, you can't help but make a good blow-dry! Go with it and enjoy! Just be aware that hot styling tools consume energy, and if used too frequently or without the right protection, they can damage the hair fiber. Our advice is to use products that can help reduce drying time, facilitate styling and/or other offer thermal protection!
We are sure that at least once you will have happened to wash your hair after a day or two, not because your scalp really needed it, but simply because the hairstyle was no longer perfect. Or maybe because you knew you wouldn't have time in the following days. In these cases, have you ever thought about using a dry shampoo to decrease the frequency of washing? Davines offers two dry shampoo options that can help in situations of need, where the hair is not exactly perfect but can last a while longer.
One of the main ways to fight climate change is to choose renewable energy sources to heat water, from which very little or no CO2eq is emitted. Nowadays, most suppliers offer sustainable options: re-check your contract and make sure it includes only solar, wind, biomass or hydro energy. Davines sets a good example because the Parma production plant is powered only by renewable energy.
