We are on the Earth’s side

GREENHOUSE GASES PRODUCED BY HUMAN ACTIVITY ARE WARMING THE EARTH, CAUSING CLIMATE CHANGE. BUT THERE IS STILL TIME TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND PROTECT OUR PRECIOUS PLANET.

The climate challenge

When we burn fossil fuels for energy, we generate greenhouse gas emissions, which act like a blanket for the earth, trapping the sun’s heat and raising temperatures.

Between 1850 and 2016 the planet has been warming rapidly. This change in temperature has caused wildfires, catastrophic storms and floods, food scarcity, droughts, and biodiversity loss, as well as increasing health risks.

Our decarbonization journey

How will become Net Zero by 2050

To achieve Net-Zero emissions, a company must:

To neutralize our emissions

To neutralise our carbon emissions as much as possible, we have partnered with two organisations that are regenerating important ecosystems to help tackle climate change.

  • The Ethiotrees project in Ethiopia regenerates forests and provides aid to families who are vulnerable following the Tigray war.
  • The Scolel'te project restores forests and agroforestry systems in Chiapas, Mexico, bringing social benefits to the local people.

In balance with nature

We all leave our imprint on the Earth, one way or another. How we choose to do so makes all the difference. We decided to step lightly.

Are you ready to be a Land Keeper?

In 2024, we’re encouraging you to adopt behaviours that protect our planet and become a Land Keeper. As a thank you, we’ve created a special, sustainable gift with purpose.

Decarbonisation FAQs

Why is Davines a carbon neutral company?

Davines has been Carbon Neutral since 2018 because we monitor, reduce and neutralise scope 1 and 2 emissions.

What are Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions?

Scope 1, 2, and 3 describe different types of emissions that occur through a company’s supply chain:

- Scope 1 emissions are those that a company produces directly through its operations e.g. employees driving company vehicles.

- Scope 2 emissions are the indirect emissions produced by a company while using energy, which is produced on its behalf e.g. having lights on in an office.

- Scope 3 emissions are indirect and include all of the value chain for which the organisation is responsible e.g. emissions produced by suppliers, or customers using the company’s products.

What is the difference between carbon neutral and Net Zero emissions?

A company can be called Carbon Neutral when it counterbalances its emissions through carbon compensation or neutralisation - there is no requirement to reduce emissions.

To achieve Net Zero emissions, a company must first focus on reducing critical emissions according to the latest climate science before neutralising any residual emissions through carbon removal.

At Davines, we have gone beyond the minimum requirements for carbon neutrality, and are working towards being Net Zero, using targets created together with SBTi (Science Based Target Initiative).
