Developing A single shampoo, Davines has created a new surfactant. The lipophilic part of this innovating cleansing agent is made up of a Mediterranean oil, i.e. olive oil, rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acids (75%) and similar to human sebum. These characteristics make it a perfect base for the synthesis of a cleansing molecule that respects the hair and the hydrolipidic film of the scalp.
Slow Food Presidia
The olive oil used in this surfactant comes partly from Quercetano Olives, a new Slow Food Presidium that Davines has set up with the Fondazione Slow Food per la Biodiversità Onlus. It is an ancient variety of olive originally from Tuscany that was at risk of extinction because many local producers had replaced it with more productive cultivars. Hence Davines’ choice of promoting the creation of the Quercetano Olive Slow Food Presidium committed to protecting this ancient variety.
Research and naturalness
The lipophilic part deriving from olive oil was finally completed by the hydrophilic part obtained from hydrolised wheat proteins. The resulting structure is identified in the ingredient list as: Potassium Olivoyl Hydrolized Wheat Protein, for Davines an example of research and innovation proving its active commitment to protecting biodiversity.
