    Green Friday: the origins

    Green Friday began as a more sustainable alternative to Black Friday 7 years ago in France. It’s an opportunity to pause and think mindfully about what we buy, rather than chase deals mindlessly as the environment suffers.
    Our sustainable roots go back far further than Green Friday: in 2000, we were the first beauty company to talk about sustainability, by 2014 we were first to talk about biodiversity and we became among the first certified B-Corp beauty companies in 2016. Since 2018, we sistematically reduce and neutralise our direct carbon emissions and we have signed our commitment to become Net zero by 2050 at the latest. We’re proudly leading the way in pioneering use of regenerative organic agriculture and ingredients in our formulas.

    We see the day as a chance to rethink our buying habits and tread with a lighter impact on the planet. This year, on 29th of November, we’re giving 10% of online Green Friday sales to our partner EthioTrees as it reforests northern Ethiopia and while removing carbon and improving livelihood of local people.

It’s more than just planting trees; they are reforesting large areas previously degraded, improving biodiversity and building climate resilience.
