How to use
After shampooing, squeeze out excess water from hair. Section hair and apply directly to lengths, fully saturating from mid-lengths to ends. Comb through. Use 1 dose (20ml) for medium length hair and 2 doses (40ml) for long hair. Rinse out. Follow with OI Conditioner for extra hydration if you have coarser hair type.
Ingredients
Roucou oil: with protective and antioxidant actions, that help to reduce the damage by external aggressors.
Alpha-hydroxiacid from grape must: closes the hair cuticles and promote compactness therefore contributing to the extra shine effect.
Cardoon Oil: the cardoon extract is transformed into a biodegradable light oil that is able to promote shine and manageability to the hair, facilitaing the distribution of the product.
First off, I do admire the ethics of this company but there is absolutely no point cramming info onto the bottle if we can’t read it - I’m talking about instructions here. I had to go onto the website to find them.
I was given a free bottle of Ol Lustre to try. The instructions say wash then use the lustre and for coarse hair follow with conditioner. I did that, my hair felt good but I thought I should give it a go without the conditioner. Definitely frizzier hair without the conditioner and to be tamed with some serum. To be honest, it would need the conditioner as well and the only real difference I could tell was that my kept its shine for longer - I try to wash my hair just once a week. A minor point - I’m not a fan of the ol scent; I prefer the Love range. There is just something medical about the ol scent but I could live with it if I felt it made a difference.
I use a hairdryer with a rotating brush attachment, and the product is meant to help with heat but it might have more impact with hair straighteners.
I will use the rest of the bottle and will continue to experiment with it but unless I find a method that gives a totally different outcome, I wouldn’t buy it. The Davines shampoo and conditioner work brilliantly by themselves.
There is quite a bit of alcohol in the product - avoid getting it in your eyes! And I did wonder whether it might also take out my non-permanent high / lowlight colours faster.
